Red Hat will manage ARO HCP control plane z-stream versions and upgrades on behalf of customers. This feature tracks the implementation of the design in XCMSTRAT-625 for P3. The stretch goal is for this upgrade process to be a regular process that happens at least every 30 days. However, it is acceptable for the trigger for a rollout to be completely manual in P3 (no regular cadence).
Success Criteria
- SRE can initiate a rollout of the next control plane z-stream version, e.g. via an Ev2 pipeline, an Admin API call, or something similar.
- The fleet-wide rollout of the next control plane z-stream version is progressive and follows safe deployment practices
- Metrics exist to track the progression of the fleet-wide upgrade and the rollout is halted if SLOs around upgrade success are not being met
- SRE can iniate the rollback of a control plane z-stream verson for a single ARO HCP cluster via an Admin API call or something similar
