Description
Appstream version of GDAL has limited feature set, to avoid unnecessary support in RHEL. But it disturbs current EPEL users. They used to use full driver functionality. But nowadays there is no possible workaround. The gdal-epel package lacks .so library with drivers.
Steps to do:
- prepare build with renamed .so library wtih full driver support
- prepare documentation
- direct compilation with a new .so name (recommanded)
- add examples how to do
- creating symlink ( optionaly provide such symlink in copr )
- add examples how to do
- add warning that it will conflict with gdal from Appstream
- direct compilation with a new .so name (recommanded)
- publish documentation (KB article ? or sync with doc contact)
- keep fjanus in a loop
Expected solution:
- gdal-epel provides a library with full driver support
- gdal-epel and gdal can be installed in parallel
- Documenetation how to workaround missing drivers by using gdal-epel
