      Epic Goal

      • The goal of this epic is to productise (test & document) the generic ephemeral volumes feature. Generic ephemeral volumes allow any CSI driver to provide ephemeral volumes to pods.

The different options to consume ephemeral volumes are available here

      https://kubernetes.io/docs/concepts/storage/ephemeral-volumes/

      Why is this important?

      • Some customers would like to leverage their storage backend (via CSI) to host ephemeral volumes
      • HostPath, emptyDir don't allow to set quotas on the ephemeral volumes which can lead to node capacity issues.
      • Worker nodes may not have local large disk capacity.
      • It brings value added to ephemeral volumes (snapshot, clone, etc)
      •   The feature GAed upstream (1.23)
