Request:
Currently, Red Hat Satellite restricts the ability to set email notifications and alerts exclusively to users with administrative privileges. This Request for Enhancement (RFE) proposes allowing non-administrative users to configure and receive email notifications and alerts.
Reasoning:
Enabling this functionality for non-administrative users would provide several benefits:
- Enhanced Monitoring Capabilities: Non-administrative users often manage specific areas of Red Hat Satellite, such as content views, hosts, or lifecycle environments. Granting them the ability to receive notifications allows them to stay informed about critical events, reducing response time and improving system reliability.
- Role-Based Customization: Organizations can delegate specific responsibilities to users without elevating them to administrator roles. This ensures a more secure environment while maintaining effective monitoring and alerting systems.
- Operational Efficiency: By decentralizing alert management, organizations can distribute workload more effectively across teams, ensuring that relevant users receive timely notifications without overloading administrators.
