What is the nature and description of the request?
Users would like to have more control over how notifications show up in GNOME. They'd like to customize:
- Where they appear (upper-right corner, lower-left corner, center of the screen). The default top-middle location often gets in the way of mouse clicks.
- How long they appear for (10 seconds, 30 seconds).
- A UI element that lets the user know that they have notifications pending. Perhaps a little dot next to the date/time when there are un-read notifications.
For each functional requirement listed, how can we test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented?
- The Settings Menu for "Notifications" would allow users to modify where the notifications appear from a list of choices (top-left, top-center, top-right, center-left, center-right, lower-left, lower-center, lower-right)
- The Settings Menu for "Notifications" would allow users to specify the duration of time that notifications are shown. Perhaps this is a drop-down list of choices in seconds, [1, 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 30, 60], or perhaps it's a slider from 0 - 60.
- There will be a UI element to let users know when they have unread notifications.
- There is a Settings Menu to disable the unread notifications UI element.
