Awaiting feedback from Perf&Scale team from my last comment suggesting validating different MTUs to create a proposal to AWS to improve this performance impact when using LZ.

I also talked with Scott today about the theme and the importance to have something like PMTUD to dynamically use lower MTU only for crossing LZ-Region, keep using jumbo frames inter nodes, and inter-zones within the region.
