6.2.12
1. Proposed title of this feature request
→ Add a feature to compare packages in the repositories of the two content views and different version of same content view.
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
→ In satellite v5 there is a feature available known as “Compare Channel” which helps to get the package difference between two channels/repositories. In satellite v6 there is no such feature. There should be a feature in satellite v6 to compare the packages in the repository between two different content views and also between two versions of the same content view.
3. Why do you need this?
→ Customer has an application team that is very picky about packages available for their application in the required content views. To manually compare the package differences between content views the customer need to parse around more than 20,000 lines and again have to find the differences.
4. How would you like to achieve this?
→ We can have a feature to compare packages between the content views and two versions of same content view.
5. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and you can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
→ We can make two content views with same repositories with different filters applied to it and then compare both to get the package differences.
6. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
→ No
7. Do you have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would you like to target (i.e. Satellite 6.2, Satellite 6.3 )?
→ As soon as possible
8. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
→ No
9. List any affected packages or components.
→ N/A
10. Would the you be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
→ Yes
