1. Proposed title of this feature request
RFE: Add an option to sync plans to automatically clean up old packages in "On Demand" repositories
2. Who is the customer behind the request?
sysmgmt
3. What is the nature and description of the request?
I'd like to request that a check-mark box be added to sync plans to tell Satellite to remove old packages in "On Demand" repositories covered by those sync plans whenever those sync plans are run. I'd also like to request that an option be added to Administer > Settings to allow customers to change what "old" means to their Satellite server.
4. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Customers frequently ask us how to remove old packages that are taking up disk space on their Satellite server. Sometimes customers change from Immediate mode to "On Demand" mode, only to find that their previously downloaded packages are still there.
5. How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
no idea
6. For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
We could test it by scheduling an hourly sync plan and waiting for it to run.
7. Is there already an existing RFE upstream or in Red Hat Bugzilla?
no, although bz #1889950 tries to address the same problem in a different way.
8. Does the customer have any specific time-line dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL5, RHEL6)?
no
9. Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
no
10. List any affected packages or components.
pulp
11. Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
yes
