      RFE Title

      Support PostgreSQL 15 or higher in Red Hat Satellite

      RFE Description

      Currently, {}Red Hat Satellite 6.x supports PostgreSQL version 13{} as its embedded and supported database version. However, {}PostgreSQL 13 has reached its upstream End of Life{}, which raises concerns during internal security and compliance audits.

      At present, the {}Red Hat Satellite documentation explicitly references PostgreSQL 13 as the supported version{}, and upgrading PostgreSQL independently is not supported.

      Therefore, we would like to request an enhancement to {}add support for PostgreSQL 15 or higher in future Red Hat Satellite releases{}.

      Business Justification

      Many organizations are required to comply with {}security and lifecycle policies that prohibit running database software beyond its upstream EOL{}. Since PostgreSQL 13 has reached EOL, this creates challenges during compliance audits for environments running Satellite.

      Supporting newer PostgreSQL versions would help customers:

      • Align with {}security compliance requirements{}
      • Avoid {}exceptions during vulnerability or lifecycle audits{}
      • Maintain long-term supportability of the Satellite platform

      Current Behavior

      Red Hat Satellite currently supports {}PostgreSQL 13 only{}.

      Expected Behavior

      Future Satellite releases should support {}PostgreSQL 15 or higher{} as the backend database.
