Problem Statement

Satellite can act as an OCI registry which allows it to store and distribute many different kinds of OCI artifacts. Different artifact types can have different implications, or related elements that need to be displayed to the user rather than simply lumping them all together as "container images". This Feature Request aims to have first-class support and display for Helm Charts as a type.

Requirements

• Support Helm OCI artifacts in Satellite OCI registry

• Compatibility with Helm CLI (helm push, helm pull)

• Authentication via Satellite credentials

Business Impact

Without this enhancement:

• Customers must maintain separate registries for containers and Helm charts

• Satellite cannot act as a unified enterprise artifact platform

Summary

Customers want to use Red Hat Satellite as a single, enterprise OCI registry for both container images and Helm charts. Enabling Helm OCI support would significantly improve Satellite’s value for Kubernetes and OpenShift users.
