Problem Statement
A customer migrating from Tower (using Hosts API for inventory generation) to AAP (to use redhat.satellite playbook for the same) miss few Hosts attributes in the Ansible inventory report.

Please review this user experience feedback, if it makes sense to enhance the Report Template by some of "missing" attributes.

User Experience & Workflow

My use case is to have a list of RHEL servers and map them to the CMDB (machine owner name, project, etc.) in a CSV/Excel file.
I do this with Tower/AAP using a dynamic inventory, which allows me to get the information without making API calls.

Here are the names of the variables we retrieve:

Hostname; Host_collection; OS; IP; Content_View; Nb_errata_security; Date_register; Last_checkin; Comment;

Within the framework of MCS (Maintaining a Secure Environment), this allows for a global overview and the detection of anomalies.

• We use the hosts collection to define the patch group (verifying that the machine is in the correct group).

• The Date_register and Last_checkin records allow us to see if it's a new machine, if a machine hasn't connected for a long time, if it has a problem, or if it has been deleted.

• If there are still security errors, there was a problem during the patching campaign.

• Comment: Add additional information that will be useful in the file analysis.

Mapping this information with the CMDB makes it easier to contact the responsible party.

Requirements

Decide if either of below Hosts attributes are worth of adding to the Ansible Inventory Report Template:

• registered_at
• last_checkin
• comment

Business Impact

No direct impact. Implementing this can make work of some customers easier, but generating the template will take a bit longer every time (end contain less interesting data for most customers).

This is really just a request to evaluate the feedback. There are both pros and cons and the reporter is not convinced on either solution.
