Q1 - What is the exact nature of the problem trying to be solved with this request?
A1 - We have 35 vCenters and 1058 hypervisors, we can't use current available filter options in virt-who service, since it is not possible to due it's limitation. We have way too much clusters and too much hypervisors.
Q2 - List the business requirements.
A2 - More flexible filtering option, like tags on hypervisors or clusters or both options. So that we could exclude not wanted hypervisors.
Q3 - Do you have specific timeline dependencies?
A3 - No.
Q4 - Can you please explain us the what are the functional requirements? If test cases can be provided this would be even more ideal.
A4 - Now when creating virt-who configuration, it is possible to define white/black list for hosts and parents (in generally esxi and clusters), I would expect an option to white/black list by tags, in similar fashion. And accordingly then virt-who service pull data from vCenter it drops esxi that is blacklisted or only insert whitelisted. Similar as is with other filters now.
Q5 - Would you be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
A5 - It depends. If we can keep our current Satellite version, when yes, if not, when it might be an issue. we need test and prod to be same version.
