Foreman provides integration with DNS using the Smart Proxy. Technically this is implemented using the dns module as a common base and then with various providers:

• dns_dnscmd
• dns_libvirt
• dns_nsupdate
• dns_dnsmasq
• dns_infoblox
• dns_powerdns
• dns_route53

The support is documented in the integrating provisioning infrastructure services. Upstream (3.16) and downstream (6.17) have a slightly different set of supported providers.

• Which providers to implement
• Do we support managing a DNS server like we do today?
