Problem Statement

The customer's workstations are upgraded to Windows 11 soon. Due to an internal compliance policy, Microsoft Edge will be the only browser shipped with the managed workstations. Mozilla Firefox will only be allowed as an exception that needs to be approved on a case by case basis.

The goal of this feature is to get an official statement whether Microsoft Edge is supported or will become as supported browser for a (future release) of Red Hat Satellite.

User Experience & Workflow

• When Microsoft Edge would be a supported browser
  • This would deliver the best experience to our customer as they could use their workstations as they are deployed
• When only Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome are the supported browsers
  • This would deliver a reduced customer experience as they would need to take extra steps to get a supported browser installed on their workstations
  • For each workstation they need to file for an exception providing a business justification, e.g. "Owner of this workstation needs to access and work in the Red Hat Satellite WebUI"
  • As this would be an exception it would need to be renewed on a regular basis

Requirements

This feature request would be fulfilled when:

• Microsoft Edge is added as a supported browser to section 1.5. Supported browsers OR
• Add the Red Hat Browser support policy to 1.5. Supported browsers

Business Impact

• There won't be any negative impact on Red Hat's business if this feature request is not going to be implemented, AFAICS
• I would deliver a poor customer experience however

Additional Information

•  The Red Hat Browser support policy seems not to be limited to a specific product or service this could mean that Microsoft Edge already is a supported browser and we just need to update our documentation to confirm this to our customers
• Currently, section 1.5. Supported browsers only lists Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome as supported browsers
• Microsoft Edge is a supported browser for Patternfly (which is the framework used for the Satellite WebUI): https://github.com/patternfly/patternfly/?tab=readme-ov-file#browser-support
• Microsoft Edge uses the same engine as Google Chrome and as our engineers comment on BZ 1430026 suggests this might be a documentation task only

Please confirm whether the Browser support policy or just Microsoft Edge should be added to section 1.5. Supported browsers.
