Feature Overview

As a Satellite user, I would like to proxy my metering data via Satellite, same as we do for insights-client. The current configuration for host metering uses the identity certificate created by the registration process through subscription manager.

This request is to detect if a system is registered to a Satellite and to alter any needed configurations to continue to submit its metering data through the Satellite as seen with Satellite clients utilizing Red Hat Insights.

Goals

This feature benefits users who do not wish to use Insights on their clients and/or provide unneeded client data for ELS on-demand access.

Requirements

• host-metering recognizes client's registration configuration to a Red Hat Satellite and change configurations to submit usage data to the Satellite
• Satellite should know how to collect and submit this host-metering data to https://cert.console.redhat.com/api/rhel-telemetry/v1/receive
