Description of problem:
On editing a host that has a host group assigned, and this host group has a content source assigned, if the content source was change from what the group assigns, the content source is reassigned back to what the host group has set, and the medium is also lost as a result.
This seems similar to https://issues.redhat.com/browse/SAT-11960
When using a host group with a content source assigned editing a host does not unset the content source unless the source of the host differs from what the host group assigns. If the host group source is unset, the host will revert to an unset source. If the host group is set to a source and you change that for the host build, editing the host and submitting the edit will attempt to change the source back to what the host group assigns.
How reproducible:
100% reproducible
Is this issue a regression from an earlier version:
yes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Create host group that does not set content source, or sets a content source that is not what you intend to use for the host build
2. Create host, assigning all host details and OS info (ensuring a content source that differs from the host group)
3. Edit host fact like MAC address, submit host
4. After submission, find content source is now set to what the group would assign to it.
Actual behavior:
After editing a created host and submitting it, content source info on the host group causes the content source to change
Expected behavior:
Content source should remain static after host creation
Version reported:
satellite-6.15.1-1.el8sat.noarch
Current workaround:
If you assign the content source to the group that you intend to use for this host you can alter other group information (environment, content view) and the host does not re-inherit other facts. As long as the group sets the content source you intend to use you can change any information on the host build, and then edit any information after and the source/medium will be persistent throughout.
