We didn't use the `compresslevel` argument because it didn't work in streaming mode, so we went for a monkeypatch. But the monkeypatch doesn't apply to non-streaming mode (missed this part)... which we also use, in the non-chunked path.

So in the non-chunked case we need to use `compresslevel=1`.
