For controller nodes on 17 we do migrate the data off the nodes to PVCs (or dataplane nodes); this epic instead is for the adoption of dedicated object storage nodes, deployed with RHOSP 17 Director.

This is needed for large dedicated swift storage node customers

We want to convert existing nodes into dataplane nodes for RHOSO18 to continue operations without time-consuming data movement.

Acceptance Criteria:

1. Review Conversion procedure
2. Documentation - MVP is downstream tech-preview docs first
3. CI Automation for full support, Manual Testing needed if TP only

Open Questions:

1. Can we get automated testing CI done for release or do we need a manual test approach
2. Should this go out as TP first?
   • Yes, but reviewed doc request and will work to deliver customer TP doc in FR5
