Feature Overview (aka. Goal Summary)

• To be able to provide support for Google Cloud Spanner, we need to test RHDH with Spanner to identify what is working or not and scope the effort. The official support will be in a future release.

Goals (aka. expected user outcomes)

• Enable configure and connect to Google Cloud Spanner as the backend database
• Validate compatibility between RHDH and Google Cloud Spanner through manual testing
• Identify errors/limitations/bugs
• Scope the effort to be able to provide support for Spanner database

Requirements (aka. Acceptance Criteria):

• high level verification that all RHDH database operations work correctly with Spanner
• Document any known limitations or differences when using Spanner vs PostgreSQL

Out of Scope (Optional)

• Automated setup/provisioning of Google Cloud Spanner instances
• Automated test coverage specific to Spanner
• Performance optimization and tuning for Spanner

Customer Considerations (Optional)

• Google Cloud Spanner requires a GCP account and proper IAM permissions
• Network connectivity requirements between RHDH and GCP
