      RHEL-46765 talks about Maven 3.9.x in RHEL9, but wont fix the issue for RHEL8..and eventually when RHEL9 comes of age we will be back to not having a good option for updating mvn.

      Thus this is me suggesting as discussed in OPENJDK-3142 we could make an appstream for maven to allow use of newer Maven in things like ubi8/9 openjdk base images so openshift s2i are not limited to only Java 11 based Maven/Java libraries.
