      Description of problem:

When resizing the terminal window in gnome-terminal the cols/lines screen overlay is not displaying while running with the Wayland Compositor.

When switching back to X11 mode the overlay properly displays.

Version-Release number of selected component (if applicable):
      RHEL 9.0
      RHEL 9.1
      RHEL 9.2

      How reproducible: Very

      Steps to Reproduce:
      1. Login to RHEL 9 and launch gnome-terminal.
      2. Use mouse to manually adjust terminal size by dragging the corders of the window.
      3. There is no display of cols/lines in the middle of the terminal.

      Actual results:
No display of the cols/lins overlay in the middle of the gnome-terminal window

      Expected results:
It should display the cols/line overly dynamically as you stretch/collapse the size of the window

      Additional info:

I have tested this in RHEL 8.8 as well as RHEL 9.0 and RHEL 9.2

      Test Results below:

      RHEL 8.8 ( Wayland ) = Overlay Not Working
      RHEL 8.8 ( X11 mode ) = Displays Properly

      RHEL 9.0 ( Wayland ) = Overlay Not Working
      RHEL 9.0 ( X11 mode ) = Displays Properly

      RHEL 9.2 ( Wayland ) = Overlay Not Working
      RHEL 9.2 ( X11 mode ) = Displays Properly

Besides gnome-terminal, I have also confirmed this behavior in xfce4-terminal as well, so other overlay calls may also be affected and may need to be tested as well.
