Hello Team,
What is the nature and description of the request?
In the same way we support VMware ESXi and ESX, Nutanix AHV, and Microsoft Hyper-V, we should support Proxmox as a hypervisor choice for customers to spin up RHEL utilizing Virtual Datacenter.
Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
Use their existing RHEL subscriptions to entitle the RHEL VMs running on Proxmox in the same way they would with VMware or Nutanix and others.
How would the customer like to achieve this? (List the functional requirements here)
Have functionality to connect and analyze Proxmox Hypervisors through their API and virt-who so that they can subscribe and entitle the RHEL running on Proxmox in the same way they would with VMware or Nutanix.
For each functional requirement listed, specify how Red Hat and the customer can test to confirm the requirement is successfully implemented.
Successful connection to Proxmox via virt-who to analyze and entitle the RHEL virtual machines running on Proxmox.
Does the customer have any specific timeline dependencies and which release would they like to target (i.e. RHEL8, RHEL9)?
No.
Is the sales team involved in this request and do they have any additional input?
Yes, we suspect more customers to come with this exact request and have no official answer outside of "we don't support it" to assist our customers.
List any affected packages or components.
virt-who
Would the customer be able to assist in testing this functionality if implemented?
Yes
