As the nm-connection-editor functionalities are available on gnome-control-center and to reduce the code maintained on our team we need to deprecate nm-connection-editor in RHEL-9.5. The first step would be to remove the g-c-c dependency on nm-connection-editor. Right now, g-c-c launches nm-connection-editor for mobile devices: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-control-center/-/blob/main/panels/network/net-device-mobile.c?ref_type=heads
For all the other types of connection it seems to use its own nm-connection-editor copy (in-tree). Therefore, we will need to collaborate with g-c-c team to be able to remove this dependency and then proceed with the deprecation of nm-connection-editor.
