What were you trying to do that didn't work?
On a RHEL 9 system with a touchscreen attached, double tap or one tap a desktop icon of an application (like gnome-terminal) or a fold (like Home) nothing happens, it's unable to open the application or fold.
Double tap works on,
GNOME Classic on Xorg and Standard(X11 display server)
Double tap doesn't work on,
Standard (Wayland display server) and GNOME Classic
Please provide the package NVR for which bug is seen:
This issue is reported by a customer firstly. The customer's system is RHEL 9.1 .
I can see the same issue on my ThinkPad X1 yoga (Gen5) even if I updated the whole system to latest RHEL 9.3 .

Steps to reproduce
- # dnf install gnome-shell-extension-desktop-icons
- Open "Extensions", enable "Desktop Icons".
- On the desktop, double tap or one tap the "Home" and "Trash" icons, nothing happens. Can't open them.
- # cp /usr/share/applications/org.gnome.Terminal.desktop /home/<user>/Desktop/
- On desktop, right click the desktop file, click "Allow Launching"
- Double tap or one tap "Terminal" icon, can't open the gnome terminal.
- Run $ gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.background show-desktop-icons true , doesn't help.
Expected results
Double tap gesture works on wayland.
Since the X.org display server is deprecated, customer is testing his touch screen on RHEL 9 wayland.
