      1. Proposed title of this feature request

      Cluster upgrade scheduling in RHACM

      2. What is the nature and description of the request?

The customer is currently using the not-supported community managed-upgrade-operator (https://github.com/openshift/managed-upgrade-operator) to schedule cluster upgrades for their fleet of clusters. They are using RHACM to roll out the necessary configuration.

This request is for a supported fleet-update-management solution in RHACM that allows scheduling of upgrades (using the managed-upgrade-operator). Likely that would require RFE-2007 to be delivered as well. So basically the customer would like to be able to:

      • Create some kind of object / policy that says "Upgrade cluster X to version Y on date Z".
      • Ideally this would also deal with edge cases such as blocking PDBs (which managed-upgrade-operator already does)
      • RHACM would then apply this once the scheduled date is reached

      3. Why does the customer need this?

Customer is managing dozens of clusters and would like to further automate the upgrades of these clusters. The managed-upgrade-operator is available but unsupported. Having tooling for this task within RHACM and/or a supported version would ensure a supported solution for scheduling upgrades to ensure business continuity.

      4. List any affected packages or components.
