1. Proposed title of this feature request
Provide Managed Upgrade Operator as part of OpenShift Container Platform
2. What is the nature and description of the request?
The Managed Upgrade Operator (https://github.com/openshift/managed-upgrade-operator) is a very powerful and useful Operator that customers can leverage to manage updates on their OpenShift Container Platform 4 - environment. It's possibility to schedule updates and run them all unattended (as it's able to deal with some blocking situation) makes it a massive value for the customer. Also considering that it's used by the Red hat SRE Team makes it interesting for customer has it has been proven to work in large scale environment.
This is why it's requested to provide Managed Upgrade Operator as part of OpenShift Container Platform and thus provide support and Maintenance for the same. Many customer already use it today (or are plan to use it later) but would appreciate if they could get support in case of issues and also have guarantee that Red Hat will continue to maintain it.
3. Why does the customer need this? (List the business requirements here)
With a large number of OpenShift Container Platform - Cluster, handling updates becomes a tricky part. While ACM can do a good job, Managed Upgrade Operator provides a very nice approach for self-service kind of updates, scheduled and unattended updates. This is why there is a big value for customers using it and thus having it maintained as part of the OpenShift Container Platform 4 - portfolio as it will also help for customers to deal with potential update challenges.
As it's also proven to work with Red Hat SRE Team, the customers have large confidence when using the product as they know it's tested and trusted.
