      Goal

This enhancement to the Multi-Cluster Engine (MCE) would allow it to deploy OpenShift to nodes that already have RHEL CoreOS pre-installed on them, without overwriting the CoreOS installation.

As an example, a server OEM would be able to install a generic CoreOS image on the server in the factory. The server could then be shipped to the customer site where the Agend-based Installer could then be used to use that server as part of an OpenShift deployment.

Similar request for Agent-Based installer submitted in RFE-3369

      Business Justification

In order to reduce the manual steps and time to deploy in the field, Dell will scale and optimize the supply chain of OpenShift nodes by pre-installing Generic (no customer specific) OpenShift (short term CoreOS) on single server used for deployment. This will allow Dell to ship thousands of servers that can quickly be added to new or existing OpenShift clusters, straight from the L10  factory where ACM be able to pick cluster deployment and configuration from the pre-loaded OpenShift server.
