Description: This course is light when it comes to hands-on content. However, it might be possible to have some "integrated" products and layered components. I would like to propose the following to consider for modifications to the course.
Infrastructure Components
Leverage the Utility server as an IdM server. This will provide the DHCP and DNS services (with DNS coming from IdM) as well as NTP (IdM) services needed for the PXE boot installation labs. We could show the following:
- How to modify and create DNS entries for the wildcard domain names
- How to create the reverse DNS entries for OCP
Additionally, having IdM installed will give us an LDAP server for authentication. This will add some steps for the preparing the environment for UPI installation, but it will also provide a key component (LDAP) which can be used as an "Authentication Source" for Day 2 activities.
Day 2 Administration Activities
So given DO280 is a pre-req according to published documentation for the course, we are technically covering how to connect OCP to authentication providers. However, given government customer requirements and many other people in the industry requiring centralized logins (authentication) having hands-on exercises where we leverage IdM and utilize IdM as an LDAP authentication resource makes perfect sense. This will cover missing components from the DO280 course and provide a great value-added service because traditionally setting up accounts and an authentication source is often paired directly with installation of products/services.
