Workaround: Read https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1305843. Just explain why they see a setting of "none".

Description: For those who teach RH442.

Unable to change the IO scheduler for virtio disks in RHEL 7.1.

For example, /sys/block/vda/queue/scheduler only displays "none" for scheduler choices, no choice of deadline, cfq, or noop. This is due to a change in driver that no longer uses the default scheduling ideology.

      See https://access.redhat.com/solutions/1305843.

Of course, this supercedes the previous recommendation to use "noop" in virtual machines so as to avoid double-scheduling.
