Description: After RHVM has been installed, the first time students click the Administration Portal link from the main landing page (https://rhvm.lab.example.com/) it will take about 2 minutes before the login screen actually appears (https://rhvm.lab.example.com/ovirt-engine/sso/login.html). Since I haven't had time to try the labs out yet in ILT, I don't know if this is VT specific or not. Regardless, I think it would be nice to add a note saying something like, "Depending upon your environment, it may take about X minutes for the login screen to appear." Since there are other timing notes in the lab (for example, "The installation of Red Hat Virtualization Manager takes 15 minutes to complete the installation"), I assumed that I had done something wrong. In addition to that, in previous versions of RH318, clicking the Administration Portal link instantly took the user to the login screen.

If you wait for the login screen to appear on its own, then the login is almost instantaneous after supplying the correct credentials. If on the other hand, you go directly to https://rhvm.lab.example.com/ovirt-engine/sso/login.html, then you will likely have to wait at that point after supplying the correct credentials. This behavior is also seen after backing up and restoring RHVM ("Guided Exercise: Backing Up and Restoring Red Hat Virtualization Manager" and "Lab: Backing Up and Upgrading Red Hat Virtualization"). In one attempt, I tried the Administration Portal link, then entered the URL to go directly to https://rhvm.lab.example.com/ovirt-engine/sso/login.html. It took 5 minutes in total before I was redirected to the dashboard screen.

I specified "X minutes" in my message above because I'm not sure what the correct number of minutes it should be. It probably makes sense to go through this multiple times to figure out what a high number would be. After my actual installation, it took about 2 minutes. When I did a restore, it took about 3 1/2 minutes. On a different restore, it took about 4 1/2 minutes. Maybe the message should say, "up to 5 minutes." I feel that this should be tested multiple times and possibly explored to figure out why it initially takes so long.

A couple of additional notes. When you hover over the link for "Administration Portal", the URL listed at the bottom of Firefox is https://rhvm.lab.example.com/ovirt-engine/webadmin/?local=en_US. Whether students select the link for "User Portal" or "Administration Portal", they will experience this wait on the first time they click the link. Since both portal links ultimately redirect to https://rhvm.lab.example.com/ovirt-engine/sso/login.html, I suspect that something with SSO is causing the delay.

I listed the priority as Major. An instructor who has previously taught RH318 is going to immediately think something is wrong. I ultimately reinstalled everything because I thought that I had made a mistake. It was only after it happened on my second attempt that I decided to wait. If this also affects the ROLE environment, those students need to be warned as they don't have an instructor to warn them. I don't want to see other VT instructors experience this.
