      Workaround:

Description: A variable that I highly recommend setting in class is HISTTIMEFORMAT which I use with a value of "%F %T "
      The trailing space is important.

It's useful for commands in class, and in the real world. We could use this information to gather metrics (a previous proposal exists for the lab scripts) about when commands were run.
