      Issue description

       Description:  I cannot run pdb on the workstation student account.
      I can't paste in the error, but when I run
      python3
      >>> import pdb
      I get a traceback that ends with
      File "/usr/lib64/python3.9/string.py" line 67 in Template
      flags = _re.IGNORECASE
      Attribute error: module "re" has no attribute "IGNORECASE"
