Issue description
In RHLS, but probably even worse in VT/vILT with many student environments, lab scripts take an excessive amount of time to start and finish the exercises. Moreover, certain long-running steps are configured with an insufficient timeout so they fail too early, requiring the student to re-run the script in order for it to complete the preparation/cleanup.
Specific steps that tend to time out:
- configuring ODF
Example failure:
$ lab start workloads-file SUCCESS Verifying cluster state SUCCESS Deleting the workloads-file project - Project 'workloads-file' deleted. SUCCESS Creating the workloads-file project - Project 'workloads-file' created. SUCCESS Copying lab files to workspace SUCCESS Installing local-storage-operator SUCCESS Installing odf-operator SUCCESS Labeling storage nodes SUCCESS Configuring Local Storage FAIL Configuring OpenShift Data Foundation - Storage Cluster not ready after 6 minutes - Cannot continue lab script An error has occurred.
Most of my timings for the "lab start workloads-file" were between 12-15 min.
