      Goals

The goal of this epic is to reintroduce OVirtPower and OVirtManagement support in RHOSP 17.1, specifically addressing the absence of the staging-ovirt driver supplied in RHOSP 16.2 but absent in RHOSP 17.1. This driver is crucial for managing VMs hosting the RHOSP 17.1 control plane, as its removal in RHOSP 17.1 forces users into manual power control.

      Background, and Strategic Fit

Those involved in development, testing, and documentation should be aware of the historical use of OVirtPower and OVirtManagement in RHOSP 16.2. Strategic fit lies in addressing the regression introduced by their removal in RHOSP 17.1.

      Assumptions

      • Assumption: RHV infrastructure is in place and functioning.
      • Assumption: The absence of OVirtPower and OVirtManagement is the root cause of manual power control issues.
      • Assumption: No major changes in hardware or software dependencies.

      Customer Considerations

      • Customer environments using RHV extensively.
      • Customers relying on automated power control for VMs in RHV.

      Documentation Considerations

      • Material required for users/admins to understand the reintroduction of OVirtPower and OVirtManagement.
      • Doc Impact: Updates to existing content.
