Feature Overview (aka. Goal Summary)
This is a DOCS ONLY feature.
Extend OpenShift installation support to additional Oracle Distributed Cloud infrastructures, specifically US Government Cloud, UK Government Cloud, EU Sovereign Cloud, Isolated Region, and Oracle Alloy.
This expansion will provide customers with more deployment options across Oracle's distributed cloud offerings while maintaining a clear documentation structure that distinguishes between Oracle Distributed Cloud and Oracle OCI Edge Cloud services.
Goals (aka. expected user outcomes)
- Expanded Infrastructure Options: Users can deploy OpenShift on US Government Cloud, UK Government Cloud, EU Sovereign Cloud, Isolated Region, and Oracle Alloy infrastructures
- Production-Ready EU Sovereign Cloud: EU Sovereign Cloud users have access to fully supported, production-ready OpenShift deployments
- Technology Preview Access: Users can evaluate and test OpenShift on US Government Cloud, UK Government Cloud, Isolated Region, and Oracle Alloy with Technology Preview support
- Improved Documentation Navigation: Users can easily understand and navigate between Oracle Distributed Cloud and Oracle OCI Edge Cloud service categories
- Consistent Installation Experience: Users experience consistent installation processes across Assisted Installer and Agent-Based Installer for all supported Oracle cloud services
Requirements (aka. Acceptance Criteria):
- Enable OpenShift installation on US Government Cloud (Technology Preview)
- Enable OpenShift installation on UK Government Cloud (Technology Preview)
- Enable OpenShift installation on EU Sovereign Cloud (General Availability)
- Enable OpenShift installation on Isolated Region (Technology Preview)
- Enable OpenShift installation on Oracle Alloy (Technology Preview)
- Ensure all installations work with both Assisted Installer and Agent-Based Installer
Documentation Considerations
- Reorganize Oracle Cloud documentation into two distinct categories:
- Oracle Distributed Cloud (Commercial Public Cloud, US Government Cloud, UK Government Cloud, EU Sovereign Cloud, Isolated Region, Dedicated Region, Oracle Alloy)
- Oracle OCI Edge Cloud (Private Cloud Appliance, Oracle Cloud@Customer)
- Update Assisted Installer documentation to reflect new infrastructure support and categorization
- Update Agent Based Installer documentation to reflect new infrastructure support and categorization
- Clearly indicate support levels (GA vs Technology Preview) for each infrastructure type
- Provide infrastructure-specific configuration guidance where applicable (The existing documentation for Commercial Public Cloud will cover all the infrastructure offerings under Oracle Distributed Cloud, and the existing documentation for PCA and C3 will cover all the infrastructure offerings under Oracle OCI Edge Cloud
