Feature Overview

This feature is targeted for Developer Preview of the Kubernetes MCP Server in OpenShift by the end of 2025.

Who is the User

The primary users are OpenShift administrators who can:

• Deploy the Developer Preview in a test or development OpenShift cluster.

• Provide early feedback on functionality and usability.

What the User Wants

Administrators want the ability to:

• Chat with their OpenShift cluster through an AI-powered MCP client.

• Use natural language (simple English sentences) to issue commands.

• Receive responses that are clear, contextual, and easy to understand.

User Experience

We will deliver two main artifacts:

1. Git Repository – to access and download the Kubernetes MCP Server:

• • Upstream: github.com/containers/kubernetes-mcp-server

• • Downstream: github.com/openshift/openshift-mcp-server

1. Step-by-Step Blog – providing installation and usage guidance:

• • How to install the Kubernetes MCP Server.

• • How to connect it with an OpenShift cluster.

• • How to interact with the cluster via MCP using natural language.

• • Draft: Google Doc
