[OCM-UI] Cluster deletion causes the cluster archives screen to display uninstallation logs, and the same toast message appears three times

    • ACM Console Sprint 265, OCMUI Center Team Sprint 266

      Steps to Reproduce

      1. Launch the staging environment and create either an OSD or Hypershift ROSA or ROSA classic cluster.
      2. Once the cluster is ready or in installing status, click on delete cluster from the actions dropdown menu.
      3. The uninstallation logs appear on the cluster details screen. Once the uninstallation is finished, navigate to the cluster archives page.
      4. Enter the cluster name that has been deleted and click to view the details

      Expected Result

The toast message stating that the cluster has been deleted should be shown only once.

The uninstallation logs should not be shown again.

      Actual Result

The toast message stating that the cluster has been deleted is shown 3-4 times.

The user is taken to the cluster list page, where it shows the uninstallation logs, and then it refreshes on its own. This is wrong behavior, as the uninstallation has already been finished, and the user should be on the archives page.

Removing this as a blocker for OCMUI-2524

I had a conversation with Shawn about bug and he did some digging:

in the last 30 days, exactly 23 users deleted a cluster using the UI a total of 44 times. only 47% of users went to the cluster detail page within 1 day (of deleting a cluster if) at all, and of those that did, the median time was 41m23s

From what we have seen if a user doesn't immediately go to the cluster details (say wait 30 seconds to 1 minute) the issue is not shown.

We agreed that the behavior is weird (and wrong), but it doesn't show any incorrect data. With the data above, the likelyhood that users would encounter this is small. We agreed that this should be fixed (and I'm working on it); it doesn't need to be a blocker for the multiRegion items.

I was able to reproduce this, but you have to be quick. You need to immediately view the cluster details as soon as the user is brought to the cluster list (after uninstall). I have a theory of what might be happening - but still need to build another cluster and try it out.

rh-ee-daznauro yes, that's right. I can reproduce this 100% on both Chrome and Safari browsers. Attaching a recording for the same.

Hi lamarach@redhat.com I have tried to replicate the issue with ROSA classic, ROSA HCP (regionalized and global) but could not.
What I see when trying to replicate:

            1. Click on delete cluster btn.
            2. Redirected to cluster list.
            3. Go back to cluster details
            4. See uninstalling the cluster.
            5. Uninstallation finishes and I am redirected to cluster list again.
            6. Go to cluster archives.
            7. Filter to the cluster I deleted.
            8. Click on the cluster.
            9. Correct deleted cluster page is present with no toast or uninstallation log.

Please confirm if the steps I took are correct? Or there is something else I am missing.
