      Goal

Reduce downtime when migrating VMs from RHV.

      Background

Intervention windows are usually very reduced and are the ones in which the infrastructure teams are allowed to shutdown VMs and have some downtime in them. In order to make the most of it we shall reduce the time that the VMs are powered off by doing all the tasks possible while the VM is running (Like pre-copying the data in the disks)

      User Stories

As a migration user, I want to run migrations with minimal downtime, in order to support migrating virtual machines with very narrow maintenance windows.

       Implementation Notes

      • Identify incremental copy mechanism for RHV 4.3 and 4.4
      • Handle incremental copy in single VM import workflow for RHV
      • Implement incremental copy in CDI for RHV 4.3 and RHV 4.4

      Requirements

      • To be defined (initially show be similar to the ones specified for VMware)
