We need automated alerts for the Migration Toolkit for Virtualization (MTV) operator and migration plans in OpenShift Virtualization. The goal is to automatically capture critical events like migration failures, insufficient resources, and storage issues, so users don’t have to manually monitor the console during large-scale VM migrations.
Problem Statement:
Currently, there are no automated alerts for MTV operator migration failures, and users need to manually monitor OpenShift consoles, which is not feasible for large migrations.
Solution:
- Automated Alerts: Capture alerts for migration errors, insufficient resources, and storage issues.
- Scalable Solution: Provide alerts and logs that work efficiently for large-scale VM migrations.
What is the main user goal aka job to be done?
- As a migration specialist, I want to configure Enhanced Alerts for migration tasks so that I can receive timely notifications about potential issues and ensure a smooth migration process.
- As a system administrator, I want to monitor the performance of migration activities through Enhanced Alerts so that I can quickly identify and address any anomalies that may arise.
- As a DevOps engineer, I want to integrate Enhanced Alerts with my existing monitoring tools so that I can streamline my workflow and maintain visibility over the entire migration lifecycle.
- As a project manager, I want to receive summary reports of migration alerts so that I can assess the overall health of the migration process and make informed decisions.
- As a technical support engineer, I want to access detailed logs of alerts triggered during migrations so that I can troubleshoot issues effectively and provide better support to users.
