      Goal

Today, OVAs support parameters, but MTV does not allow setting them.

After this epic, MTV does support to set OVA parameters during import.

OVA files are a commonly used format for VM templates. We need a way to import those files into OpenShift Virtualization in a way that multiple new VMs can be created from them.

      The import should include:

      1. The disk image, including removal of any VMware tools and drivers and adding things that are required for OpenShift Virtualization such as the guest agent and virtio drivers
      2. The VM definition including OS type, size (CPU and memory), and workload type, and mapping those properties to OpenShift Virtualization definitions for optimal workload performance

      User Stories

      • As a user I would like to import an OVA file that is located on my computer or on a website into OpenShift Virtualization and use OVA parameters
      • As a user, I would like to be able to create multiple VM instances from the imported file and use OVA parameters
      • As a user I would like to easily find all imported OVA
      • As a user I would like the VMs that I'm creating from the imported OVA to run at optimal performance

What is the main user goal aka job to be done?

      • As a System Administrator, I want to customize the settings of OVAs during the import process so that I can ensure that the virtual machines meet the specific requirements of my organization's infrastructure.
      • As an IT Manager, I want to streamline the migration process by efficiently configuring multiple OVAs at once so that I can minimize downtime and maintain business continuity during migrations.
      • As a DevOps Engineer, I wnt to understand the best practices for parametrizing OVAs so that I can avoid common errors and ensure a smooth and successful migration of applications to the virtual environment.
      • As a Cloud Architect, I want to leverage advanced parametrization options for OVAs so that I can optimize resource allocation and performance for different workloads in the cloud environment.
      • As a Technical Support Specialist, I want to access troubleshooting tips and solutions related to OVA parametrization so that I can assist users in resolving issues quickly and effectively during the import process.
