      We want to enable users/operators to run this if needed, as a sort of disaster recovery stop gap. There are several ways this could be delivered:

      • init container
      • via promtool
      • side car container

      What all these methods need to provide is:

      • ensure prometheus is stopped. The flushWal binary must make sure there is no concurrent writer
      • we only want to flush large WAL in special circustances, not as a regular operation
