With OCP 4.9, v1beta1 CRDs will not be supported. We expect this release sometime in a ~September 21 timeframe. Normally, we could upgrade all our CRDs to v1 and be done. However, due to the nature of our product, we must still use v1beta1 CRDs depending on the cluster version that we're being installed into.

IIRC, <4.6 clusters can only accept v1beta1 CRDs. It's unlikely OLM will have any mechanism to allow for conditional versions of CRDs depending on the underlying version, so it's looking increasingly like we'll need to drop OLM support on these versions of OCP 4.5 and utilize a similar approach to what we do today with OCP 3.
