WHAT

Observability Operator may in the future have to support multiple managed services on the same cluster. This is currently an afterthought, has never been tested and might not work or there may be unexpected side effects.

WHY

Prepare for running RHOC and RHOSAK on the same cluster.

HOW

Investigate the current architecture of the Observability Operator and its capability to reconcile multiple config sources.

Verify that we can separate multiple managed services, handle different remote write configurations and targets.

If needed, propose a revised architecture.

Include the following where applicable:

• Investigation complete and results published internally.
• ADR created

Guidelines

The following steps should be adhered to:

• Required tests should be put in place - unit, integration, manual test cases (if necessary)
• CI and all relevant tests passing
• Changes have been verified by one additional reviewer against:
• each required environment
• each supported upgrade path
• If the changes could have an impact on the clients (either UI or CLI), a JIRA should be created for making the required changes on the client side and acknowledged by one of the client side team members. PR has been merged
