    • With this update, a new supported small-scale LokiStack size of 1x.pico is introduced for OCP clusters hosting a few workloads and smaller ingestion volumes (up to 50GB/day).
    • Enhancement

      Goals

      1. Provide a supported small-scale LokiStack size for ingestion volumes around 50 GB/day with a total requirement requests of 8 vCPU and 16GB Memory.
      2. Support a small-scale LokiStack size for small OpenShift Container Platform clusters hosting a few workloads and the infra control plane.
      3. Provide supported upgrades to 1x.extra-small, 1x.small and 1x.medium.

      Non-Goals

      1. Custom resource requirements management for Loki components.

      Motivation

With the productization of 1x.extra-small (LOG-4329) we provided a small-factor loki for smaller OpenShift Container Platform environments. However we still have some of our customers using an even smaller factor with a maximum available resources of 8 vCPU and 16GB Memory for LokiStack.

      Alternatives

      N/A

      Acceptance Criteria

      1. Provide a very small factor LokiStack instance type for ingestion volumes up to 50 GB and limited to resource requirement requests of 8 vCPU and 16 GB of memory.
      2. Evaluate the resource requirement requests of 8 vCPU and 16 GB of memory only for main LokiStack without the Ruler.
      3. Provide documentation for limitations in terms of query performance for affected scenarios if any (e.g. large query ranges, dashboards, etc.)

      Risk and Assumptions

      Documentation Considerations

      Similar to LOG-4329.
