Today OpenShift does not provide automated backup, this can be achieved in various ways one being using a cronjob. But the lack of a backup should be observable by the admin as being a problem thus eliminating any assumption that automated backups exist. We can also reference a runbook with perhaps links to KCS article on how that implementation might look.
