Examples using fabric8-maven-plugin are not working with Maven 3.5.2

because fabric8-maven-plugin is incompatible with Maven 3.5.x
examples/quickstarts such as Fuse Tooling one and this one are reproducing the issue. it means that no quickstarts targeting OpenShift is working as they are using fabric8-maven-plugin (as far as i know)

extra problem, Eclipse Photon which will be released tomorrow is embedding Maven 3.5.2 by default.
