Don't rely on deprecated JSON serialization functionality of MongoDB driver

    Description

      See the deprecation warnings in RecordMakers et al.; that JSON serialization API is going to be removed from the MongoDB driver. So we should migrate to an alternative API, most likely Jackson which we're already using in other places.
