Currently, all images with filesystem customizations are automatically converted to be LVM-based. Nevertheless, some customers and partners (e.g. MSFT) would like to generate images with raw partitioning.
Goal:
- Implement a new option in the Weldr API and the service API to be able to opt-out from the automatic "LVMification" of the image. The idea is two to have 3 partitioning modes:
- auto-lvm (the default, keeps the current behaviour)
- lvm (the image uses LVM even without extra partitions)
- raw (the image uses raw partitioning even with extra partitions)
Acceptance Criteria:
- All goals are met.
- The new feature is demoed.
Notes:
- Since this is primarily a feature for MSFT (see RHELBU-2123), we should focus on the service firstly.
- In the future, we can easily extend the partitioning modes to e.g. btrfs.
