Goal
This epic is about creating a mechanism to deploy a quota-like mechanism in a sensible manner such that KubeVirt works in tandem with Kubernetes native structures so that the overhead of running a VM doesn't count against the user's quota. This is important because being to close to quota with the traditional Kubernetes quota mechanism could block migrations from succeeding, which could indirectly inhibit cluster upgrade.
User Stories
- As a Cluster Admin, I want to specify ResourceQuota based on the user consumable resources, so that the user can focus on their usage, and not worry about the infra overhead
- As a Cluster Admin, I don't want the way user allocates their quota to interfere with cluster level activities, so that I can perform upgrades or other node maintenance as required.
- As a VM Owner, I want to be able to use the full quota allocated to me without worrying about VMs getting stuck during migration in order to ensure my workloads can run where they need to.
Non-Requirements
- Application Aware Resource Quota is a new mechanism that works independently from Quota. There is no requirement that both should be used simultaneously.
