Networking Sprint 18
Background
Cisco ASA firewall technology has been deprecated by Cisco Systems, that started proposing Cisco Firepower as the replacement firewall.
We had not get customer escalations or cases in the last year related to the Cisco ASA collection, which is an indication of the lack of adoption of related automation in our enterprise customers.
In the same fashion, only 3 upstream issues were open during the year against the GitHub repo for cisco.asa collection.
User Stories
As a security/network admin, I want ansible certified collections to be aligned to the technologies I have in production.
As an IT manager, I expect production automation to be in synch with production technologies, and having both supported by the corresponding vendors (Red Hat and Cisco).
Supporting documentation
Cisco announces ASA firewalls are deprecated.
Definition of Done
Deprecation notices are sent for agreed collections through upstream, partners, and Red Hat internal communication channels to account teams.
cisco.asa collection gets removed from Automation Hub
Acceptance Criteria
cisco.asa collections ownership is transferred to upstream community to be maintained in a best-effort basis
